What’s up with your logo?

A swoosh. Golden arches. A bitten apple. A long-haired siren holding her legs ( 🤔 ?) up.

All imagery that automatically conjures up a brand in your brain.

When it comes to your logo, in the hecticness of starting up a new business, especially when boot-strapping, it can be easy to put some words in a logo generator, see what it spits out and call it a day.

But when you consider how iconic logos can be for brand recognition, this is an area that is best to spend some time (and *gulp* 💸 ) on to make sure you nail before going public with it.

Take ARRow’s for example. As you can see it took some evolution – I’ve included one of the many earlier versions we went through – but I couldn’t be happier with where we ended and how it represents the solution.

Here’s the breakdown of the three main elements:

1️⃣ Dots = all the unstructured data points that exist in a CRM attempting to be deciphered by data driven teams.

2️⃣ Lines = the connection between the unstructured data that begins to show a story, highlighting with a different color every “data point” that connects two lines together.

3️⃣ Arrow symbol = the most important part. When you look at the shape the lines create it’s a forward-facing arrowhead. Perfect for a solution like ours that is meant to point you in the right direction, keep your business moving forward, show you exactly what you need to see, pinpoint the right data, help you hit your targets, I mean the analogies go on and on and on! 🎯

👉 And as we are pointing you to your ARR (among other recurring revenue metrics of course), those letters are capitalized to stand out.

Again, this is something I advise not to rush, do last minute, or try to make yourself without any design background.

It’s going to be EVERYWHERE and if there’s part of it that bugs you at the beginning or doesn’t quite work, it’s only going to get more annoying the more you stare at it.

So for any other boot-strappers, I know it’s hard to part with those precious start-up funds (unless you are VC-funded and can blow 18M$ on just a domain name… 🤦‍♂️ ). Especially when it looks like there are many easy and free options, but I highly recommend you lo-go talk to an expert!

📣 And big shout out to Mayssa for digging the design out of my brain, working her magic and turning that idea into something that we enjoy explaining and are proud to look at! 👏
